This past weekend, ASGW held a conference in Savannah, Georgia to discuss “nurturing positivity for the greater good”.
Lee Carlson Center’s own Katie Gunderson, a therapist at the Centennial Area Learning Center, not only had the opportunity to attend but also presented!
Katie said she, “presented on utilizing a group centered approach to provide intensive outpatient services in schools. This presentation explored how to build a program such as this, within a school setting. Including, how a school district, a community mental health agency, and the state of MN have collaborated to provide these services to students. This presentation also described the process of offering group psychotherapy, group skills training, milieu therapy, and restorative circles within a school setting. [She] received inspiring feedback from attendees, and also got to discuss implications for further research on this topic with the president of the association”
The picture is of Katie and the president of the association after she spoke with her!
We are proud to have had Katie represent Lee Carlson Center for Mental Health & Well-Being at the conference, and cannot wait to learn more about her experience!
