Domestic Abuse Program

Domestic Abuse affects one out of four family households

Our Domestic Abuse Program is designed to facilitate opportunities to restore lives and relationships
using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma-informed lens focusing on

Accountability

Education

Empathy

Services we offer:

  • Men’s Domestic Abuse Group
  • Woman’s Domestic Abuse Group
  • Survivor Individual Therapy
  • Restorative Parenting Individual Therapy
  • Child/adolescent Individual Therapy

Lee Carlson Center’s Domestic Abuse program takes a person-centered approach that teaches group members how to be accountable for abusive behaviors while also maintaining space for them to learn about trauma, respect, and empathy.  It is with that balance that individuals are able to gain awareness and insight into their past trauma and how that trauma is impacting them today.  The awareness and insight into past trauma allows them to move through feelings of shame, which leads to accountability, healing, and increase in empathy.

The program consists of 20 weekly groups (or more as indicated by probation or court order) with other men who face the same difficulties. Each group is 2 hours long and the expectation is that each member will contribute to the group dynamic. All groups are open and ongoing and adding new participants all the time. Men’s Domestic Abuse groups are held at the Fridley and Brooklyn Center offices, offering both AM and PM times.
